Mamma’s Puff Pastry Meat Pies

Mamma’s Puff Pastry Meat Pies

These savory puff pastry meat pies are one of those comforting family recipes that disappear quickly from the pan. Seasoned ground beef is layered between flaky pastry, cut into shareable squares, and baked until beautifully golden and crisp.

Ingredients

• 1 pound ground beef
• Olive oil, for cooking and greasing the pan
• Seven spice seasoning, to taste
• 1 package puff pastry sheets, thawed according to the package directions
• 1 egg, beaten
• A small amount of olive oil, for brushing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Heat a small amount of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until completely browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Season the beef with seven spice and mix well. Remove it from the heat.
  4. Lightly grease a sheet pan with olive oil.
  5. Arrange a layer of puff pastry over the bottom of the pan.
  6. Spread the seasoned cooked beef evenly over the pastry.
  7. Add another layer of puff pastry over the beef.
  8. Mix the beaten egg with a small amount of olive oil. Brush the mixture evenly over the top of the pastry.
  9. Cut the pastry into squares before baking.
  10. Bake for approximately 25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed, golden, and crisp.
  11. Allow the meat pies to cool slightly before serving.
